History of Our Church

Old Union

The Old Union Methodist Church was organized as a church in the Old Union school building soon after the Civil War in 1866.

Rev. James Harvy Rice was the first pastor.  Rev. John F. Hughes was the Presiding Elder.  On March 12, 1898, the deed to the land on which the present church now stands was signed by Mrs. Tazy Hardy to the following trustees: W.C. Campbell, J.M. Rice, W.G. Campbell, T.S. Hardy, and James Est.

There were twenty church members and fifteen enrolled in the Sunday School.

Our Father's House Community Church

On (date), a group of individuals (names) purchased the building and land once occupied by Old Union Methodist Church.  Renovation and repair began immediately and the building was made ready for service on (date).  Since initial occupancy by Our Father's House, other additions and renovations have been made. A large Fellowship Hall, classrooms, and bathrooms have been added; parking areas have been graded, paved and striped; a large picnic pavilion has been constructed; a church bus purchased and a port for the bus erected; and a memorial wall remembering those of our congregation who have gone before us has been built.  Photographs of the old building and the renovations have been preserved and may be viewed by clicking  OLD Church.
